About This Program
Rhode Island's tax-credit scholarship program (enacted 2006, launched 2007) provides 75-90% corporate tax credits for donations to Scholarship-Granting Organizations. Students from families at or below 250% FPL are eligible for scholarships covering tuition and fees at private schools. Program capped at $1.6 million in annual tax credits, limiting participation to roughly 500 students. The program has cumulatively saved Rhode Island taxpayers between $52.6-$83.6 million through FY2022.
