About SchoolZone.ai
Helping families find the right school with transparent data and fair ratings — not zip-code wealth.
Our Mission
Every family deserves clear, honest information about their neighborhood schools. SchoolZone.ai was built to answer one simple question: “What schools is my child zoned for?”
Beyond zoning, we believe school ratings should measure what schools actually contribute to student learning — not the wealth of the neighborhoods they serve. That’s why we developed a value-added rating system grounded in education research.
What We Do
92,000+ Schools
Every public school in the United States — elementary, middle, and high — searchable by address.
All 50 States
Nationwide coverage with attendance zone boundaries so you know exactly which schools serve your address.
Fair Ratings
Our value-added methodology separates school effectiveness from neighborhood demographics.
Our Approach to School Ratings
Traditional school rating sites primarily reflect neighborhood wealth — not school quality. Research shows that 60–70% of the variance in test scores is explained by socioeconomic factors.
We take a different approach. Our SchoolZone Effectiveness Score uses value-added methodology to measure what schools actually contribute, controlling for the demographics of the students they serve.
Our Data Sources
National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
School locations, enrollment, demographics, and district information from the 2024–25 Common Core of Data — the federal government’s primary database on public education.
Stanford Education Data Archive (SEDA)
Academic achievement and growth data from Stanford’s research project, providing the foundation for our value-added effectiveness scores.
School Attendance Boundary Survey (SABS)
Attendance zone boundaries from the U.S. Census Bureau and NCES, telling us which schools serve which addresses.
